Who we are. Who we want to be.

The Florida Consortium of Metropolitan Research Universities is a collaborative partnership between Florida International University, the University of Central Florida, and the University of South Florida. Since 2014, together we’ve pooled our experts and resources on all things related to student success.

We began the New Year on a hopeful note. Within a few days, we watched in shock as the US Capitol was attacked.  In 2020 we also faced the harsh realities of the COVID-19 pandemic, the racial pandemic and economic uncertainty.  These recent events have impacted us and left our campus communities irrevocably changed.  We have observed the injustices faced by Black Americans as well as other marginalized groups and being Research Universities serving urban communities, our mandate is being crystalized.

Last year, President Rosenberg, Provost Furton of FIU, President Cartwright, Provost Johnson of UCF, President Currall, Provost Wilcox of USF, Paul J. Luna, President and CEO of the Helios Education Foundation and Michael Preston, Executive Director of the Florida Consortium discussed how we might take the global, national, and local experiences that impacted our campus communities, as difficult as they were, to foster tangible change. The Year of Reflection was born out of that discussion and joint commitment was engendered; which is needed now more than ever.

Please click here to watch the Year of Reflection Kickoff convening to discover what FIU, UCF, and USF will be doing together to ensure our campus communities are diverse, equitable, and inclusive.   Please join us in these efforts as it will take all of us working together to accomplish these goals.

Thank You,

President Mark B. Rosenberg

President Alexander Cartwright

President Steven C. Currall
