The Florida Consortium of Metropolitan Research Universities is proud to announce they have expanded their team. La Toya Hodge began on Monday as the Assistant Director and Communications and Strategy for the Florida Consortium. La Toya Hodge brings over twelve years of integrated marketing, strategic communications, team leadership and project management experience to the Florida Consortium of Metropolitan Research Universities. She has led global marketing campaigns, regional advocacy and demand generation programs across various industries including consumer goods, manufacturing and technology.

New HeadShotCommunication is an important component for any network but for the Florida Consortium it is an essential component. In order to facilitate conversations among higher ed professionals on three major campuses the ability to provide concise and timely communications will ensure our partnerships with with the utmost efficiency. The position is provided, in part by a grant provided by the Kresge Foundation. Kresge is a private foundation with nearly $4 billion in assets dedicated to improving lives and expanding opportunities in America’s cities through grant making and social investing. The Kresge Foundation awarded the Florida Consortium with a grant to improve the communication infrastructure in November of 2015.

In her role as the Assistant Director, she is responsible for organizational communications, training materials, assigned projects, and will assist in disseminating best practices for outcome teams on Consortium campuses. She is also the primary media contact for official Consortium information, its partner universities and the communities they serve.

Outside of work, La Toya supports several social good programs such as Tech2Empower, TechWomen an initiative within the US State Department, A Gift for Teaching, and Jobs Partnership of Florida to name a few.

LaToya is also an avid runner and has completed one marathon, fifteen half marathons and one sprint triathlon. She loves to travel and has visited twenty countries (and counting). When she isn’t training or planning a trip, she enjoys baking and working to improve her version of the robot dance.

LaToya earned a MBA from Hofstra University and is a certified mentor through the Mentoring Standard. She currently lives in East Orlando.
