The stage is all set, the rehearsals are nearly complete, the principals are in place and ready to go, and the crowd is gathering. Is it the latest Broadway hit? No. It is the Florida Consortium of Metropolitan Research Universities 2021 Florida Summit on Accelerating Transfer Success. The Great White Way has not seen anything this impactful since Rodgers and Hammerstein penned their string of enduring hits.
While that might be a bit hyperbolic, there is no denying how excited we are about this year’s virtual and free online Transfer Success Summit on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, from 9 am to 1 pm. So far, more than 300 staff and faculty from multiple universities, colleges, and partner organizations have registered to attend. You can still register!
The conference will feature:
- A fantastic exchange of ideas during a sit-down, talk-show style interview with FIU President Dr. Mark Rosenberg and President of Miami Dade College Dr. Madeline Pumariega
- Nine informative, engaging transfer success presentations from faculty and staff at FAU, FIU, UCF, USF, Miami Dade College, CFEED (Central Florida Education Ecosystem Database), and Dr. Wendy Kilgore from AACRAO (American Association of Collegiate Registrars Admission Offices)
- Transfer Student Panel with students from across the state.
- An update from the Florida Student Success Center
- A visit and update from our partners at the Helios Education Foundation
- A talk with keynote speaker and Student Access and Success expert Drew Koch of the Gardener Institute

The Florida Consortium is using GoToWebinar and Zoom (for the education sessions) this year. Registrants will receive a unique GoToWebinar link (person to each attendee and not intended to share with colleagues). A few things to keep in mind before you log on Tuesday at 9 am:
- If you cannot find your link to the webinar, please do the following:
- Look in your junk or spam folder.
- If you cannot find the link, please email Michael.preston@ucf.edu or Scott.mauro@ucf.edu at the Florida Consortium.
- We can always re-register and get a new link.
- If you do not have the GoToWebinar client on your desktop, the link will ask you to download the client. It takes just a minute to do this, but you may want to do that before 11-16-21.
- Once you log in, you will not be able to share your camera or microphone in the general session, but you will be able to in breakouts.
- We will have a chat open for questions and comments.
- The President’s Interview is prerecorded. Put any questions or comments you have in the chat. We will work to get you the answers and email you.
- The breakouts will be via Zoom. We will share those links in the chat and via a slide in the main meeting room.
- You can stay connected with GoToWebinar and fire up the Zoom breakout link with a few issues. It’s a great way to make sure you don’t have to reenter the general session.
- Virtual Camera Backgrounds in GoToWebinar: GoToWebinar has a relationship with a third-party vendor called ChromaCam. If you already have a paid account with GoToWebinar you have access automatically to the ChromaCam feature. If you do not, you can download ChromaCam Lite for free and use it during the webinar.
